For about 5 years now, my husband has been asking me to mend my beloved down comforter that has seen more than its share of rips and tears and battle scars. It leaks fluff every night, and we wake with it in our hair, our drinking glass on the bedside table. I agreed that this was a nuisance, but couldn’t deal with the annoyance of fixing it, having tried not very successfully before. Finally this weekend I was feeling ambitious and decided to make a cover for it, rather than sew each wound individually. I learned never to appliqué on jersey fabric, and that you are probably better off buying a cover unless you have an awful lot of room in which to throw queen size-sheets around. But here it is, the birds’ nest blanket…

Back in October I picked up this awesome door on the side of the road, not sure what the future held for it. I decided to make it a showcase for some of my favorite photographs I’ve shot. I’m big on painting this aqua–it can generally be the answer to everything. It is hanging from the ceiling in my office now…
